Can small diamonds be reset into an eternity band?

I know larger stones can be reset with no problem, but I've never heard of someone resetting smaller stones.

Problem: I have a seven stone ring (each stone 1/6 ct) that are set in a band from the 40's. This item was my grandmother's but I would like the ring updated into a more trendy eternity band. They are currently set side by side each in a semi up raised 4 prong setting, with a 14k yellow gold band. I would want white gold for the resetting. Would it be possible to have a jeweler create a band setting using these stones and perhaps adding a few sapphires in between to achieve the look I'm going for? Would this be cost effective or more trouble than the stones are worth?

It is possible to do this. As too the cost this could vary, but you could be looking in the region of £90-£130, maybe more, condition and quality are important factors.
