Wedding Ring: Not Just Any Jewelry

Wedding ring is one of the most pleasant memories of that special moment in your life when you exchange vows with the person you love the most and will be spending the rest of your life with. It is an object to cherish for a lifetime and hence has to be special. The circle of the ring in itself is believed to denote continuity and eternity.

While the custom of exchanging rings has remained unchanged, the wedding band in itself has undergone many changes over the years. The changes reflect in the design, style, metal, and others.

Choice Of Metals

Traditionally, simple gold bands were the most favored. Over the years, this has changed and more and more options are now available to choose from. Titanium and platinum wedding ring are fast replacing the yellow gold. Even among the gold ones, you have a wider choice. If old gold fails to excite you, you can go for white gold, rose gold or other variations. Metals can be used in combination as well for a distinct look.

The choice of the metal is very personal to ones taste. Since this piece of ornament always stays on your finger, you may want to buy something that goes with your entire wardrobe.

A platinum is becoming quite the rage for its look and design. It is also a great substitute for something as long lasting. The metal does not lose its sheen despite daily use and is ideal for sensitive skin. It is more expensive than gold and hence choosing a platinum band may mean shelling out more money. Another modern day substitute is titanium. Silvery-white in color, this metal is strong and corrosion resistant, making it suitable for a wedding ring. It is relatively affordable.

For That Rich Look

As against the simple bands that were in use earlier, the recent trend in wedding rings is to go for a more ornate look. Diamonds and other gemstones are generously used. Diamond band are the hot favorites for those who can afford it. The stone settings on the ring significantly enhance the beauty of the ornament. Nothing can match the beauty of diamonds inlaid on a platinum band. Since your wedding band is the most precious thing to stay with you for a lifetime, its worth the value.

If budget is a constraint, opt for other gemstones such as sapphire, ruby, emerald, topaz and others. These look equally great when set on a ring, either individually or in combination with others.

Options are a plenty. All you need is advanced planning, some research and creativity. If you have ideas, you can even design your own ring, something that just becomes your individual style as well is practical for everyday wear.

Men Are Not Far Behind

Mans wedding rings have evolved just as much as womans. They have become more stylish to match their counterparts. The various options for metals and stones mentioned are available to them as well. You may want to give your band an elegant look without making them look loud.

For All Pockets

It is absolutely not necessary that only by spending more you will get the best. There is something for every pocket. Look around. Visit the jeweler personally or check online for suitable options. You will also be able to find the best bargain in the process.

However, be sure to check the authenticity of the ring that you buy and make it a memorable experience down the years.

ring choice?

do you like large eternity bands or solitaire diamonds with a plain band better? i'm trying to decide btwn the two and can't make a decision. the solitaire and plain wedding band seem too safe, but the estate/vintage style eternity bands seem like there might not be enough diamond presence.

just to clarify…i'm debating btwn a solitaire and a plain wedding band OR an estate/vintage style eternity band (small diamonds all over) without a solitaire or other ring with it.
married 4 yrs, just trying to upgrade my original set since we bought what we could afford at the time with the intention to buy bigger/better once we had more money.

Which do you like better for a wedding band?

I know I really want an eternity band with yellow sapphire in white gold…something that is apparently really hard to find. I managed to find a few online (I really wanted to buy from a store but thats not an option) and I have been looking at these two for a while now. Originally I had planned to wait a few more months to order the ring but now I can get it for 20% off so I think I am going to order early. Which do you think is better?

which eternity band is best and where would you buy one?

I am renewing my vows and I am getting a wedding band. I like the eternity band. I don’t know which is best – channel set seems hard to clean. Also, where should I look for a quality band without spending too much for a brand name?

We have gone together, but since he is in the military and half way across the world it is kind of hard to shop together. We are a very non traditional couple, but this works for us. :) Apperciate the input Keep the comments comming. :)
Price of the ring is not what matters it is about what it symbolized. The unbroken link of eternal love, he could give me a ring that is made of a garbage bag twist tie I would still marry him. I have never been stuck on material things and I never will. I entend on showing the images to a jewelery designer and have them to make then final piece.

What wedding band goes with an eternity ring?

My engagement ring is a white gold, shared prong eternity ring.

Here is a picture of it: http://www.eternityweddingbands.com/assets/productimages/482ce45e-8297-4ade-9ef5-67623a30d040.jpg

We’re not too keen on spending a whole lot on the rings, so I’m just wondering if a regular, white gold wedding band would look good next to this? What are your opinions?
Reason I ask is also because a lot of the eternity rings that I see, have a wedding band with at least a solitary diamond which is something I don't really want. I'm just wondering if it's 'unheard' of to have an eternity ring next to a regular wedding band? :\

Celtic Wedding Rings: A Modern Tradition

Many couples look for wedding bands to symbolize their relationship, and Celtic wedding rings are among the most expressive designs currently available. A Celtic design can do wonders for the couple who wishes to demonstrate their ancestral heritage, their philosophical beliefs, or just their personal connection.

A Celtic band is not only beautiful, but carries a long history and tradition behind it. Celts were highly spiritual people with a passion for art. It is this creativity and spiritualism that is infused into the Celtic designs.

Celtic designs are finding favor among many couples for being unique and meaningful, making them ideal for bands. Celtic marriage rings are universally thought to represent the interweaving of two lives into a connected whole. Because the pattern is continuous around the ring, it is thought to symbolize the unending love and continuity of a relationship.

Celtic Ring Designs

What makes them stand apart is their distinct pattern. There are numerous designs for Celtic rings, all so unique and different, from simple woven strands to intricate filigree patterns layered with substance. The three critical elements of any Celtic band design are the type of knot depicted; the gemstones used; and the metal selected for the ring.

Types Of Knots

The Celtic patterns can be very complex, especially on thicker bands. There are endless variations among the knot patterns, from graceful, flowing braids to rigid, angular designs.

Many ascribe specific meanings to these patterns. Simple, smooth patterns with flowing curves may represent the harmony and ease that a couple shares, while a more angular pattern can be symbolic of the foundations and stability of marriage. In reality, there is no formal directory of what Celtic designs signify. Couples can simply choose the patterns that describe their individual personalities and interpret the meaning to suit their individual relationship.

Gemstones

Celtic wedding ring do not feature gemstones as elaborately as in other designs but it is always possible to incorporate diamonds or other stones into the knots. While emeralds, rubies and sapphires are popular choices, many couples prefer diamond marriage rings. Small sized gems may be aesthetically laid into the rings pattern, or a larger gem may be highlighted as a focal point. The choice is yours.

Metals

Yellow Gold has till recently been the most popular metal for wedding rings, though silver is often used for Celtic designs for its greater malleability. Platinum and white gold are also frequently used. Harder metals such as titanium may be difficult to mould into a fine pattern. Double tone rings are especially popular. Nothing can beat the contrast that they offer between different strands of the knot.

Shopping For Celtic Wedding Rings

There are several jewelers that sell Celtic rings. You can also check online merchants. Be sure to look for customer feedback.

The cost depends on several factors. The width of the ring, and therefore the amount of metal used, the intricacy of the design, gemstones, quality of the metal, and any customization, all affect the price.

When you receive the ring, examine it carefully: the design should be smooth and uniform, with sharp patterns that demonstrate its quality.

Rich with symbolism, mystery, and romance, Celtic wedding rings are a popular choice with todays brides and grooms. With a nearly infinite range of designs to choose from, it is possible to find the perfect ring to represent the eternal bond that the couple forges on their wedding day.

Are eternity bands comfortable enough to wear as a wedding band 24/7?

I just like the way they look. Is there any reason I could not wear one as my wedding band?
